Despite negative reviews, we remain dedicated to providing reliable service to our customers. It is our belief that some individuals may struggle to follow instructions and in turn, take their frustrations out on us. Our user-friendly app is easy to set up and navigate. We have acquired several banks throughout our history, including North Community Bank, and aim to provide the best possible experience to all our clients.
Recently, Byline sent out multiple notifications regarding the upgrade, indicating that online access would be unavailable until February 25th with the new app. While the transition for some of our clients' personal accounts was satisfactory, this was not the case for their business accounts. Some customers experienced delays, were on hold for hours, and did not receive the promised call backs. We empathize with their concerns about account security and are disappointed in ourselves for not offering the level of support they deserved. Byline dropped the ball and we are committed to making it right. We understand their frustration and are working to improve our service.
We have consciously chosen to bank exclusively with Byline since settling in Chicago, in order to support the last remaining independent bank. However, despite less-than-competitive rates and service, we haven't had a completely smooth-sailing experience. Byline has recently closed down the only branch within reasonable walking distance from us here in Edgewater, and while the staff at the nearest branch are friendly, they seem to lack the necessary knowledge about their own ATM deposit system.
While the previous app was functional and efficient to an extent, the latest iteration seems to be a shared app with another bank, giving preference and priority to non-Byline customers. As a result, Byline customers need to re-enroll online before accessing the new app, a process that the app flagrantly reminds them about. Furthermore, depositing a check digitally has become a much more cumbersome process than before. As of yet, we haven't explored the newer features of the app, but it appears that the Pop Money autopay system for rent has disappeared, forcing us to manually log in online and re-enter the data to start another autopay service.
Overall, the app is satisfactory, although it loses one star for making customers go through the hoops of re-enrolling in all the services. Although Byline's customer service should be its claim to fame, our experience suggests otherwise.
The developer, Byline Bank, has stated that the app's privacy policies may entail handling user data, which is further elaborated in the developer's privacy policy.
